More about TEFL/TESOL
More about TEFL/TESOL
An accredited 120+ hour TEFL/TESOL certificate is required to apply for a teaching position at Hey Teacher. It is a strict requirement for teaching online. A TEFL is crucial in getting hired as an ESL teacher and what most hiring educational organizations value on a teach abroad and online application.

What you need to know
A TEFL (English as a Foreign Language) certification is an accredited ESL teaching certificate to teach English to students whose first language isn’t English. Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) is very different from teaching students whose primary and first language is English. For this reason, we only accept TEFL and TESOL qualifications and certificates.
- TEFL – Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
- ESL– English as a Second Language.
- TESL– Teaching English as a Second Language. (Where English is being taught to non-native English speakers in a country where English is the native language.)
- TESOL– Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
